FOOD

My Starter
When I went on my wonderful adventure in Cambodia I went to eight different mouth watering food venues.
However today I am going to tell you about the Michelin Star award winning, Abacus Restaurant. It is located at 48 Masin Road in Siem Reap, Cambodia and is its only a short three and a half minute drive from the 5 Star, Shining Angkor Boutique Hotel.

The inviting restaurant had a leafy tropical garden theme to it. There are velvet flower walls that surround you while you are eating your meal. The indoor plants that have been placed creatively in each corner of the restaurant send out delicious outdoor smells that you inhale while sitting in your comfortable red chairs.
As soon as I sat down at my seat, an efficient looking waiter came up to me and handed me a detailed menu full of delectable western style dishes.

After browsing through my menu for quite some time I decided on my starter. I ordered a green crisp salad with warm golden potatoes and smooth tangy sour cream. The service was wonderful with the meal arriving in under five minutes. While I was devouring my starter I pondered over what to have for my main. In the end I had tender grilled lamb chop seasoned with rosemary sauce and a side of sensational grilled polenta. Again it arrived in under five minutes. The variety of flavors burst in my mouth and the texture was to die for. After I had finished my main, I was deep in thought about what I would have for dessert. I scanned the menu and decided on a perfectly made chocolate truffle cake with a side of smooth vanilla ice cream that inspired my taste buds.

The staff were first class and well presented. The woman were wearing pretty red chinese dresses with embroidered golden flowers. All the men were dressed in black suits with white cloths draped over their arms.

My Main Course
This classic architecture restaurant was established in 2004 and has already won two of the best awards. The first was the Cambodian best restaurant shield in 2008 and the second was the highest honor Michelin Star Award in 2010.

I absolutely loved this restaurant, it had a lively atmosphere and the decor was beautiful with lots of vibrant colors. The service was magnificent and the waiters seemed to appear exactly when you wanted them. The meals had invigorating flavours and were 100% fresh as they were cooked as soon as your ordered them.

My Desert
When I went to up to pay with my visa I was surprised at the affordable price of $30 NZD per person so it was $120 for four people. I couldn’t believe that for all of that food it was only $30!
What a bargain!
